COMMUNITY! It’s what it’s all about, y’all!
(Can I say “y’all” even though I’m not from the South? I went to college there for three years… That counts for something, right?)
Anywho… the podcast launch is getting closer, and closer, and closer! It’s only FIVE days away!
Ryan’s been in Colorado for the last week and his return to California is TBD, so I’ve been solo momming (with help from my in-laws). I’ve always been amazed at women who run side hustles and blogs without childcare. It is NOT easy. I think the whole idea of “running a business during nap time” is a big crock, at least when you’re first starting out. Once you’ve been doing it for a while, you have systems in place and can do things faster so maybe it’s possible. Or maybe I’m just super slow.
Last night, a friend came over and brought us dinner so I didn’t have to cook. (Insert praise hands emoji here!) We haven’t seen her or her husband in a long time, so it was really nice to catch up. Things have been rough for me and Ryan lately, and I tend to withdraw from my friends when I’m not doing well. If you know the Enneagram, I’m a FOUR, so that probably makes sense to you.
I’m trying so hard NOT to do that, though! Withdrawing is not the answer to tough times. Reaching out to your community is.
I hope Mrs. Startup becomes a community of women who support each other through difficult times, as well as celebrate when things go well. Let’s bounce ideas off each other; learn what’s working and what isn’t working; and hold each other accountable for making positive changes. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing what you’re going through, feel free to be as active as you want to be. Listen to the podcast, and join the Facebook group. Participate as much or as little as you want to.
I’m so looking forward to growing with all of you!
